Doctors use symptoms to diagnose illnesses, and one could say a symptom is your body’s way of communicating something is wrong. The problem is, some of us have lived with these symptoms for so long, they’re no longer classified as symptoms anymore. They’re simply classified as “normal.”
Many times these problems are treated with medication, or simply chalked-up to “getting old” or “life,” but realistically, there’s nothing normal about them. And the only reason they feel normal, is because you’ve been functionally abnormal for so long.
Are you actually feeling great, or is it just better than shitty?
If you’re experiencing any (or all) of the symptoms below, or taking medication on a daily basis to deal with them, you’re a long way from great – as these are red-flags that something isn’t right, and your health WILL get worse if they’re not addressed (at the root).
- Excess Gas, Bloating, Reflux
- Chronic Fatigue, Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar)
- Headaches, Migraines
- Forgetfulness, Brain Fog, Memory Loss
- Skin Problems – Acne, Eczema, Rosacea
- Trouble Staying or Falling Asleep
- Catching Cold’s and Flu’s (Sick Often)
- Never Full or Never Hungry
- Joint Pain, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia
- Constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
The majority of these problems persist because of chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and disrupted gut health, which originate from a crappy diet (grains, PUFAs) and a combination of critical lifestyle factors (sleep, exercise). They’re not “aging” or “something everyone has to deal with,” because your daily behavior is the reason you’re dealing with them in the first place.
Stop making excuses for yourself, and start recognizing that just because “everyone else is dealing with it,’ doesn’t mean it’s inevitable.
These unfortunate problems may seem minor, and may even go unnoticed most of the time, but they’re a red-flag that your health is suboptimal. By silently coping with them, or popping pills (antacids, NSAIDs) to mask the symptoms, you’re not addressing the underlying cause. Meaning, what ‘feels normal’ will continue to diminish, until next thing you know you’re coping with a serious degenerative condition.
The point is, you don’t know what ‘healthy’ really feels like until you experience it for yourself. And if you’re dealing with any of the symptoms listed above it’s well beyond where you’re at now.
Those who commit to making changes always have the same comment on the other side:
“I didn’t realize how bad I actually felt.”
And once they experience the next level, they’re committed to setting their healthy bar higher and higher.
Stay Lean!
