What if I told you most of the degenerative diseases we chalk up to “bad luck” are actually behavior related?
And more specifically, related to our dietary behavior?
Perhaps you’d call me a quack, and maybe you’d be angry. But regardless of how it makes you feel, it’s the truth. Whether we’re talking about diabetes, heart disease, and dementia, or osteoporosis, arthritis, and cancer. As all of these conditions, along with a long list of others that attack the brain, skin, nervous system, and gastrointestinal tract, are on the rise and have been on the rise since we started taking dietary cues from a cereal box.
Keeping in mind that when I say cereal box, I’m not talking about Trix, Count Chocula, Fruit Loops, and other sugar-bombs some people still give their kids, I’m talking about the high-fiber whole grain ones that our government continues to ENCOURAGE us to eat.
(In addition to 5-10 MORE servings throughout the remainder of the day – to satisfy the lower rung of the Food Guide!)
Which I’m told no one pays attention to. Except, of course, when they go see a dietician, ask for advice from a doctor, or they’re a child, pregnant women, elderly individual, diabetic, or other high-risk individual.
No big deal right?
Sadly, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the dietary guidelines. And believe it not, this IS the reason you’re fat, sick, and frustrated. As anyone with a lick of common sense, and an ounce of evolutionary knowledge, understands that we’re genetically designed to eat animals and plants. Not grass-seeds and soybeans!
But more importantly, we’re not designed to favor these foods over the animal fat and flesh that made us human. Since this what we’ve thrived on for 99.5% of our existence, and only started fearing 50 years ago.
(While, ironically, obesity and disease rates started steadily rising to the all-time high that they are today.)
The sad part being, that now we’re all paying for it. Whether you’re one of the individuals that’s visiting the hospital, dealing with pain, and struggling with your life, or you’re one of the healthy SOB’s like me that’s known about this BS for more than 15 years, and now watches his taxes go through the roof because of it.
“…between 2004 and 2014, the cost of health care insurance for the average Canadian family (all family types) increased by 53.3 per cent….the average single individual earning roughly $42,000 will pay $4,381..a family of two adults and two children earning approximately $118,000 in 2014 will pay $11,786…and families among the top 10 per cent of income earners in Canada will pay $37,239.” Fraser Institute, 2014
But what a system right?
Take money from corporations to push food that makes people fat and sick, but put the health care costs on them.
Or better still, tell them those diseases are bad luck and the only way to prevent them and stay alive is with the latest and greatest medications from Big Pharma. Which also funds the government, by the way.
(a.k.a. The Business of Sickness)
So, what’s the truth?
- You don’t need grains, you do need meat, and there was never anything wrong with dietary fat or cholesterol!
- Soy is not healthy, butter is better than margarine and vegetable oil, and you should be counting nutrients not calories!!
That’s the simplest way I can put it, and that’s the best advice you can share with your loved ones.
It WILL change your life, it WILL change there’s, and hopefully it WILL change the disturbing state of Health Care. Now, and in the frightening (not-so-distant) future.
Stay Lean!
